8 More Days Till Christmas!

8 more days till Christmas! Is everybody excited yet? I know I am although I don't have any presents under the tree to open. I am so excited for my kids to open theirs and I am sure they are going to love what they'll be getting! I have been so busy lately, as you can see it's been almost a week since I updated this blog! Thankfully I am done Christmas shopping and have pretty much everything wrapped! I do not like to pile the presents that I bought and rush wrapping them.

Wrapping them as they arrive in the mail is what I prefer to do for the reason of I don't have to hide them somewhere and be worried of my kids finding the presents if it's for them. And it is also a lot easier and more convenient in my opinion not having to rush at the very last minute!

Anyway, like I said 8 more days and we all know how fast time flies so if you haven't done with your Christmas shopping yet, better get it done as soon as possible to avoid the Christmas rush! Christmas will be here before we know it!

Our Christmas Present For Her

We bought this Bunn coffeemaker for my mother-in-law for Christmas. Hers has been broken for several months and has been trying to find one to replace it. But she wasn't willing to pay the high price tag on it in the store. She tried ordering it online and she thought that she had won the bid, already paid for it and was expecting for it to come in the mail. A week later, no coffeemaker came! She contacted the seller and asked where her Bunn coffeemaker is, the seller couldn't give her a straight answer! Well, to make long story short, she got refunded with her money, no Bunn coffeemaker and the hunting continue on until my husband told her that Christmas is coming, why won't she just wait and she might get one for Christmas! And here it is above!
I too had looked in the store of how much this particular coffeemaker cost and yes it's very expensive! I wasn't willing to pay the price tag either. So I looked on Amazon and found this one for less than $90 plus free shipping and didn't have to pay tax! Hopefully my mother-in-law would be happy to receive this on Christmas! I am not sure if this is the same one she had but I guess it doesn't matter since it is the same brand! I asked my husband last night, why does it have to be this brand when there are other good coffeemakers for less prices. He told me this brand is really good, it has some features that some brands doesn't have and that's why it is expensive!
Well I can actually understand why she wouldn't want to settle for something else. She's been using this brand for how many years and when you get accustom of using something, you don't want to use anything else! On the back of the box, it pretty much answered my question that I asked my husband last night...

Happy Birthday To My Younger Sister!

Although I am pretty sure that my younger sister who is in the Philippines won't be reading this but I still want to greet her a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! The actual day was yesterday in the Philippines but it is today here in United States. If I am not mistaken she turned 26 years old! It's pretty bad when you're not sure how old your own sister is! LOL!

Anyway, I hope that she had a wonderful 26th birthday with my family! I posted my birthday greetings on her FB wall! I could have called but I didn't because I am very sure she won't be answering her cellphone for she is busy working! I didn't send or give her anything for her birthday either but I will make sure that she will get something when I send them my Christmas presents which is always a little cash, so they can have a little something for Christmas!

A Different Thanksgiving This Year!

This year's Thanksgiving for us was definitely one of a kind! I do not mean it in a good way though! LOL! It was the roughest and the most chaotic Thanksgiving we ever had but thankfully with a happy ending!

What had happened was, the past Thanksgivings that we had, we always baked the Turkey. But this year my mother-in-law requested it to be deep-fried. Well, it would have been well and fine if we had plan it in advance like checking if all the parts of the deep-fryer are there or propane tank is full. On top of that, my step-daughter was coming to celebrate Thanksgiving with us, so we didn't really get to focus on it. We only had time to check it at the very last minute.

Then we decided that we will have our Thanksgiving dinner at suppertime which is about 6pm! Well to make the long story short, we ended up eating our Thanksgiving dinner at almost 10 o'clock at night. The turkey didn't turn out the way my husband wanted it. So by the time it was done, it was all falling apart, everybody was exhausted and frustrated and half of the family was asleep! I really wanted to take family pictures but by the time we were all ready to devour our dinner, I was just too exhausted to get my camera out plus I was starving! LOL! But like I said, after our tummies were filled with good foods, we were all happy and mother-in-law went home happy as well!

Anyway, how about you guys, how did your Thanksgiving go? Hopefully it was unforgettable but in a good way!

Our Christmas Tree Is Up!

This year I decided to set up our Christmas tree early. Usually, I wait until Thanksgiving is over but I didn't have anything else to do that day that I decided to set it up and so the kids can enjoy it longer! A lot of my friends on FB already had theirs up too so I don't feel too bad about it! LOL!

Anyhow, the Christmas tree that I have been using for the past 2 years is a just 3-4 ft tall. We have a 7ft tree that we bought at Kmart and it's just been sitting in the building unused. I love that Christmas tree but unfortunately we do not have the space for now to set it up! If I can get some of these stuff out of the house maybe next year I will be able to use it again!

Anyway, this is what our little Christmas tree looks like. It is sitting on what used to be my computer desk. I was planning on getting rid off it but I decided not to so I can use it to sit our Christmas tree. I still haven't figured out what I am gonna replace it with, I will figure it out when Christmas is over!
Our little Christmas tree! No presents underneath it yet!

A New Microwave Finally

The microwave above used to be our old microwave that broke several days ago! We only had this microwave for a couple of years! I am really disappointed that it didn't last long at all. My husband is not surprised at all, he said that Emerson brand is not really that well-built and is cheaply made!

Anyway, we didn't have microwave for about 3 days and it was indeed very inconvenient not having it around. I don't know how people survived without it before. I guess people aren't as lazy compared to the people now! LOL! No offense but myself included in it too! LOL!

Anyhow, I kept bugging my husband to either to look at the old microwave to see what's wrong with it and if he could fix it or just get a new microwave! Well, he did both. He took apart the old microwave and looked at inside to see if it is something that he can fix himself and unfortunately it wasn't! So we didn't have any choice but to go to Lowe's and buy a new one. We were both in an agreement to get a much more expensive one but it is also a well-known brand which is GE and all-over stainless steel too which me and him both love! Our old one was part stainless steel but the majority was plastic, so we are really loving our new microwave!

We took our new one home and hubby got it its place and when he started it the, dang bulb in it blew out! He knows a lot about electronics and he was very sure that the bulb might not have been on tight because it caused our circuit breaker to blew too! He called Lowe's and told him what had happened and they said to bring it back so we can exchange it for a different one! So we did and got exactly the same one, went home and tried and it works perfect!

Below is what our new microwave looks like! It is almost identical to the old one but like I said, the new one is all stainless steel! We love our new microwave! Hopefully this will last longer than the old one!

A Successful 2nd Birthday Celebration!

My youngest son turned 2 years old 2 days ago and it was a successful birthday celebration! He had a blast on his special day despite of not feeling too well. For some reason, he started getting sick when he woke up that morning. His nose started running the day before and I thought it was just allergy but when it didn't go away the next morning, I knew then he caught the cold again!

Anyway, we started his birthday by going to church that morning, before the mass was over, he got very ornery. So we had to leave immediately as soon as the mass was over! When we got home, I had to cook the food and all! Good thing that I already had the decorations up the night before and thank goodness my oldest son helped me set it up. He had a Yo Gabba Gabba theme this year which he really loved!

His birthday was just a very simple celebration but yet he enjoyed every seconds of it and I did too and my family! I only invited my friend, her husband and daughter who lives just down the road from us. He loved all the presents that he got. What impressed me was, he was not only interested in opening the presents but he also showed interest on his birthday cards which I haven't seen that much that kids his age do! I mean he doesn't know how to read yet but he acted like he did!

Anyhow, here are more pictures below taken from his birthday! I haven't uploaded much of his birthday pictures on Facebook because of all the commotions going on in the Philippines. The last thing that I want to happen is to offend anybody for I really care what my fellow Filipinos are going through right now. Such hardship a lot of them are facing and I really feel for them! We just don't know when to be thankful for the things that we take for granted everyday!

Trying to read his card..

He loves to watch Barney and he got so excited to see Barney and Friends toys..
Enjoying a piece of cake on one hand and ice cream on the other hand! LOL!

He's Getting An Award Tomorrow!

{Image NOT MINE!}
Tomorrow would be another proud moment for me as a mom. My second grader will be receiving a "Star Student" award. I don't know exactly what this particular award for but whatever it is, I am very PROUD of him anyway!! There are 3 different awards that are given in their classroom, Principal's Award, Perfect Attendance and Star Student. There are only four of them who is receiving the Star Student award. I emailed her teacher asking what exactly it is but I have not received any response yet. I can always ask her after the ceremony!

Anyway, the kids that will be receiving a Perfect Attendance award will also go on a field trip to see a movie and my son was really looking forward to that but unfortunately, he missed one day of school. That's when he had a nose bled that morning and we thought that it would be better for him to just stay home than letting him go to school and his nose starts bleeding again and scare everybody. I told him that he there are still 2 semesters left and if he don't miss school in those semesters, he will be able to go on the reward trip, that is if they are going anywhere!

Anyhow, after the ceremony I am planning on getting him a gift and giving it to him when he comes home from school. It will be our way of congratulating him and our little way of letting him know how very proud we are of him!!

Thankful That My Family Is Safe But...

..there are over 10,000 casualties left by super typhoon Haiyan or Yolanda as what it's called locally in the Philippines. It is so hard to be fully glad and thankful that you're own family is safe when you are very aware that there are thousands of my fellow Filipinos are dead!! Not to mention the aftermath that left thousands of families homeless, no food to eat, no water to drink, no medicines for those who are injured! I feel really bad and can only wish that there is more I can do!!!

I donated a little bit of money and it is the best that I can do for now, I wish I could have donated more though but even if it was just a little, it is already a big help and a big difference to help those people in desperate needs!! The other thing that I can do is to plead for help on behalf of my fellow citizens who are suffering right now crying for desperate help!

I can understand those who feel uncomfortable donating money and not sure that they would really reach to the people in need but I know somebody who is taking donations to send to her hometown where it was one of most devastated places by the typhoon and still not gotten any help from the government! So PLEASE, PLEASE, find it in your heart to help these people by donating even just a dollar! That will at least buy 2 bottles of water! You can comment on this post or contact me @ forsythea@yahoo.com and I will be glad to connect you to the person who is taking the donation. She is accepting the donation through PayPal!!

Putting My Desktop Computer Into My Kid's Bedroom

{Image Not MINE!}
I planned on putting my desktop computer into my kid's bedroom as soon as this new computer desk comes in the mail. It will probably be here next week! I just ordered it yesterday and guess where??? YUP! On Amazon! I bought so much stuff there these past few weeks that I don't have any idea what will be coming in the mail!

Anyhow, putting a computer in a kid's bedroom might not be a such a good idea but I think that depends as well how much time restrictions you are allowed your kids to be on it! I already told my oldest son that just  because we are putting the computer in his bedroom, it doesn't mean he'll be able to get on it whenever he wishes to use it. That won't be the case! We will make sure that it will be password protected, so if he tries to sneak, he won't be able to use it! We will only give him about one hour computer time and may be he'll get an extra time when he does good in school and at home!

Anyway, this computer desk didn't have the best ratings but I decided to buy it because its style plus the price was reasonable compared to the others with same ratings. It would be the perfect computer desk to put in their bedroom since there's not much room in there and there is no way to put my old computer desk in there for it is really big! It will be hauled off to the dump as soon as I get the computer and other stuff off it!

Shoes And Backpack Bought On Amazon!

Amazon is one of my favorite places to shop online. Not only you can find affordable items but as well as wide selection from different sellers. First thing that I always look at are the reviews and then the prices. I just love how you can read all the reviews before purchasing an item. I have been buying from them these past few weeks and everything that came in the mail so far are in good quality, definitely worth the money that I paid for.

Anyway, two of those items that I bought are these backpack and FILA shoes for my oldest son. Walmart backpack and shoes just don't last long at all. His new backpack and shoes that I bought at Walmart just before school started this year were all falling apart, so I had to buy him new ones!
{Image NOT MINE!}
This backpack comes in so many different colors and had the best reviews of all the ones that I checked out at under $20 price tag. I let my son decide of which color he'd like and he picked the camouflage one! This already came in the mail a week ago and by just looking at it, I can tell that this will last a while! My son really loved his new backpack!

{Image NOT MINE!}
Now these shoes hasn't come yet. It is a FILA brand so I know it is well-built and would last longer than the ones at Walmart! I actually got a good deal on these shoes. It was on sale on Amazon for $13 with free shipping if you order $35 or more. So I bought it with a laptop battery because my laptop needed a new battery and I got a free shipping for both items. I was so glad that I bought it then because the next day, the price had gone up to $34+! Good thing I went with my guts and didn't wait! I love getting a good deal! Don't you??

Trick Or Treat At The Mall Was A Blast!

I took my boys to the mall to Trick or Treat last night! I decided to take them there although it almost an hour drive because there was no Trick or Treating going on our neighborhood nor anywhere nearby! It was all our first time to do it at the mall and it was youngest son's first time to ever Trick or Treat!

I can say that although there was a lot of walking involved, my boys had a blast collecting treats! It was definitely fun for them! I for one, was enjoying it just watching all the different costumes that little kids and even adults were wearing! Next year, if time will allow, I would love to go back there again to Trick or Treat and I will make sure that I will wear a costume too!

Anyhow, above are some of the pictures that I took. I took so many that it was so difficult to choose, so I made a collage out of it! I know it's kind of hard to see the individual picture which is one of my reasons why I did it that way! ;)

Happy Birthday To The Most Amazing Person I Know!

This person that I am about to greet here might not read this post at all but I still want to go ahead and wish her a very Happy Birthday! She is the most amazing person I know and I love her so very much! Without her, I would be nothing or I won't be here where I am now! That person is my very own MOTHER!

Although we are thousands of miles apart, she is always in my heart and on my mind. There's never a day that I don't think about her! I am so thankful and blessed to have a hard-working mother like her! She is one of the most hardworking people I have ever known in my life! If it wasn't for her hard-work, unselfishness and unconditional love for her children, I don't know where me and siblings would be now! I owe her everything! I just wish that I am beside her right now celebrating her very special day!

Anyway, I already greeted her in advance but I wanted to greet her in person. I called a few minutes ago but there's no answer on my sister's cellphones! I hope she is okay and having a wonderful day on her very special day! All I can wish for her is the best which she definitely deserves!!!

They Get To Use Their Old Halloween Costumes!

Thank goodness I don't have to buy my kids new Halloween costumes. The Pirate costume that I bought my youngest son last year fortunately still fits, so that's what he'll be wearing this year. My oldest son will be wearing his Mario costume from 2 years back, although it is a little too short on him now, it still fits fine. I just have to find him a pair of boots that he can wear with it so it won't be too obvious that it is short! Hopefully the cowboy boots that my mother-in-law bought him last year would still fit him...

Anyway, Halloween is just around the corner. Are you going or taking your kids trick or treating? I am planning my kids to take to the mall to trick or treat, hopefully we can go. A lot of things going on for that day. It is also my husband's birthday and my son's field trip for their Science experiment at school. So I'll have to see if time will permit us to go trick or treating to the mall, I would really love to and I'm sure my kids would too!

Long Weekend Ahead!

Finally! I have been looking forward for this day to come! My son don't have school tomorrow and Monday, so I am gonna have a long weekend! I need it for sure! I have been so stress lately and haven't been resting well. I know it won't be the ultimate break for I have my youngest son to take care of but at least I do not have to wake up so early in the morning for 4 days, well except on Sunday since it's church day!

Anyway, after this, it's gonna be another week next week. My husband's birthday is coming, same day as Halloween. At the same day, my son is going on a field trip and afterwards I'm taking my kids to the mall for trick or treat! Hopefully everything will go according to plan!

Hammock And Chain Stuffed Toys Organizers

I have been looking for a stuffed toys organizer that would not take that much space in my kids bedroom and I found this Hammock organizer online. You can hang it in a corner so it doesn't really take that much space. I have been putting it off buying it because I wanted to get the best deal. So I have just been looking around until last week on Ebay, I stumbled upon this kit which happened to be a Hammock plus a chain organizer. The kit cost a little over $14 with free shipping! I knew that was the deal that I have been looking for so without any hesitation I bought it!

It arrived earlier today and immediately went to work! It wasn't hard to install at all. It probably took me about 45 minutes to 1 hour to do everything including screwing the hooks! That was the hardest part of the whole process! Good thing I didn't have to use the studs or it would have taken much longer!

Anyway, below are more pictures to maybe explain more of it..

Above picture as you can see are what's inside the kit..a hammock, clothes pins with metal hooks to hook onto the chain, chain and hooks and studs...

These are my kids stuffed toys! They would have been fine just sitting there at the bottom of the bed but there are little hands who have an easy access to these and always messes them up and throws them on the floor and who do you think picks it up? Of course me and I'm getting tired of it! LOL!

This is what it looks like now! I decided to put it high up to the ceiling so the little hands won't be able to get them easily! He'll have to climb to the top bunk bed to get to those toys! By the way I took off the ladder to the bunk bed, so there's no way he can climb up there!

And here is the chain! I thought this is so neat! You can hang it vertically or horizontally. I decided to hang it horizontally across the ceiling so my oldest son will have an easy access to his favorite toys while the little one can't reach it!

Vehicle Can Be Used As An Investment

Our only vehicle which is a 2003 Toyota Corolla  is partly damaged! My oldest son accidentally jerked the back door handle really hard while it was locked and it broke the side that is connected to the door. My husband tried gluing it but nothing worked! A week later, while I was at the grocery when I tried opening it really carefully, it finally broke the handle completely off the door! Now, we do not have that much choice but to take it the Toyota place to have it repaired. We know that it's not gonna be cheap but it is something that has to be done for we won't be able to afford a new one.

Although our car is over 10 years old, it is still in pretty good shape.  There's no major cosmetic damage except for the handle that broke off recently. The last time my husband did an estimation on how much it's worth, it is still worth around 5k. Well that was about 3 years ago, I'm sure it's not as much this time. But it is still very important that we get the handle fix because we can always use our car as an investment in the future. If there is an emergency that would require us to loan money, we can always use the car title to take   title loans in Riverside, CA! Places like it will allow you to get loan using your car as a collateral. The money that you'll get is depending on how much your car is worth! So what we'll be paying to fix the car door on our car will be worth it!

Prayers Needed!

I am asking for a little favor for those who are stopping by and reading this blog to take a few minutes of your time and say a little pray for my fellow Filipinos in the Philippines who were affected by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake last night! I found this prayer on the internet, The prayer, from Pinoy Catholic, states:

Oh God our Father:
In faith we acknowledge Your paternal care over us, Your sons, daughters and children. In hope we trust in Your divine providence of giving us wisdom and courage as we face the challenges in life. In love we invoke Your help and guidance during these difficult days of death and destruction in our dear country.
Our is a prayer of thanksgiving for once again reminding us that ours is an imperfect world, that heaven is not on earth, and that nature every now and then tells us not to abuse her. Ours too is a prayer of repentance for calling upon You when we are in need and desperation but forgetting You in favourable times and pleasing occasions. Ours as well is a prayer of petition as we say:
Grant eternal peace to those who lost their lives. Embrace the children who died in their innocence. Help those who are hurt and cure those who are sick.
Encourage those who suffer the destruction of their homes and properties, and to once again stand up and rebuild their future.
Bless all those who extend their helping hands to those in need of food, shelter and clothing, who share their time, talents and resources with others.
Inspire more people to be men and women for their neighbors, convinced that the more they are for others, the taller they stand before you.
Spare us please from other natural disasters and devastations if this be according to Your will and for our own spiritual good and growth.

All your thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated! Thank you!

Legal Translators

I feel fortunate that I immigrated to a country where I know how to speak their language. I am also very thankful that English language is taught in school in my country where I came from and it is actually our secondary language there. Although I am not as fluent as some other Filipinos who have immigrated here as well, but I am still grateful that I can understand and can communicate other people who speaks English.

I've known a lot of people who immigrated to a different country who had to go to school in order for them to learn their language. I am pretty sure it is not easy but it will be worth it after. I know what it's like to feel left out when surrounded by people who are speaking a different language. Not everybody here in America speaks English. I've met many people here in America who are originally from other countries who do not know and understand English. I am assuming they had to hire legal translators to help them through immigration process. I am just glad that I did not have to go through all of that when I did mine!

TGIF!

Thank GOD it's Friday! I couldn't be any happier! I am getting a break from waking up so early tomorrow. God knows I need it. I haven't been sleeping good lately! Last night I didn't sleep a wink. When I put my kids to sleep at 8pm, I also went to sleep and woke up about almost 12am and decided to have a cup of coffee. Usually a cup of coffee wouldn't affect me, but last night was different. When my husband and I decided to go to bed at about 2am, my eyes were wide awake until about time to get up at 6am!

I couldn't get my mind to shut down, I was thinking so many different things but mostly about my family in the Philippines! I guess I am missing them really bad. I haven't talked to my mother for a very long time and I miss her a lot. She was mostly on my mind last night, I got so worried about her and kept praying to GOD to keep her safe always! My husband asked me if something was bothering me, I told him no, I just didn't think that it would make any difference.

Anyway, when my oldest son left for school, I finally got to sleep for about an hour, thank goodness my youngest one went back to sleep with me! That was my only chance of getting a sleep until his nap time which is in the afternoon! But to my surprise though, I didn't feel that bad with that little sleep that I had!

Heater On In The Morning And A/C On In The Afternoon

I do not like the weather when I have to turn on the heater in the morning because of the chill to me is unbearable! You can definitely feel it to the bone even inside the house! But as the day goes on, the weather gets really hot that we have to turn on the A/C! To me, it's a waste of electricity but it is something that we have to do because it gets uncomfortable after a while. I wish the weather would just stabilize to its right season which is Fall, so that we do not have to turn on the A/C in the afternoon!

Our temperature still reaches over 80 degrees during the day but it gets really cold in the morning! I can tolerate the chill as long as it won't get so hot when it gets later in the day! But as usual, it is something that I don't have control of, so I am just whining here and wishing that I can do something about it!

In Case Of An Emergency

There is no denying that almost everybody is having hard time making ends meet. The economy is still pretty much the same or perhaps turning for the worst. A lot of people are worried how are they're able to get through on a day-to-day basis. Some are slowly draining the money that they have set aside for the future or for emergency. Well, not able to pay for groceries or bills is an emergency! You have to do what you have to do in any means necessary  in order for you and you're family to survive! But what's gonna happen when the savings run out?

I can very much relate to this! My husband and I both don't have jobs. I'm a full time stay at home mom and my husband is on social security disability. His monthly income is barely enough to feed a family of four and pay the bills! There has been so many times that we come up short with the money and he had to take some money from his savings! And I'm really worried that the savings is slowly draining and there's no money coming in! If some major expenses would come up, it will use up all what little is left, then what?

Things like these always crosses my mind! But if worse comes to worse, we can always use our car title to loan some money from places like title loans in Austin, TX. This is a great option for anybody including us and also to those who have bad credits. They do not look at your credit history, if you have title of your car, then it is very well possible that you can get a loan but depending on the condition, how much mileage, make, model and year of the car. So basically, the money that you'll get is base on how much is your car's worth!

Anyway, nobody likes to think that they would be in such bad situation but it happens. It is nice to know that in case of an emergency, there is an option out there that you can depend on if it is a matter of financial necessity!

Turning 2-Years Old Next Month!

Pictures above are of my youngest son when he was just a few hours old! My friend took these pictures using her hubby's cellphone and she stumbled upon them not too long ago and sent them to me which I appreciated very much! Looking at these pictures makes me really want to cry for this baby is not so baby anymore! He is turning 2-years old next month! Where did the days go??? Time is flying fast indeed!

I really miss both of my kids when they were just newborn! My oldest son is 7 years old already. He is almost as tall as me. Hard for me to believe sometimes that I now have a handsome young man! I am really grateful that I am a stay at home mom for I get to spend a lot of my time with my kids!!!

Turn Those Frozen Foods Into Gourmet Meals!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Michelina's. All opinions are 100% mine.

Since I am a stay at home mom, I have all the time to fix my family fresh home-cooked meals! We are not very big into eating out or eating frozen foods, but it doesn't mean we do not eat out or buy it. We eat out when we are going somewhere and no time to fix food at home. Sometimes, I keep frozen foods in stock for convenience for there are days when I feel too tired to cook. Being a stay at home mom is a full time job especially when you have two kids to take care of, not to mention the household work that needs to be done!

Anyhow, eating frozen foods can get boring at times. There had been times that I wished that I could have done something differently to the frozen meals that I'd fixed but I just didn't know how. But now, thanks to Make It Your Michelina’s for I found some great recipes that can turn those frozen foods into gourmet meals! What I love most about these recipes is how simple it is to make! The top 3 recipes that I would really love to try are pictured and listed below...
