New Haircut

My little monkey got a new haircut yesterday! I think he look so handsome and looking so grown up, don't you think? We decided to finally cut his hair yesterday because aside from getting so long, he is also punishing his self when he gets mad by pulling his hair. Not just a tiny pulls, I mean a hard pulls! He'll even whine about it which sometimes I think is amusing! It's like punching yourself on the face and cry about it! LOL!

Anyhow, he tried pulling his hair after it has been cut and unfortunately for him, he couldn't grab a single hair! It was so funny watching him trying to grab as hard as he can and couldn't get any. (Sighhh) Little boys are indeed made of snips and snails, and puppy dog tails! They are just silly!

Officially On Training!

The potty trainer seat that I bought for my 15 month old son came today and he's officially on potty training. I am starting to think that he might be easier to potty train than my oldest son was. He already did the long one sitting on his new trainer comfortably! Well, I would not say it was complete success since he just partially dumped some in the toilet and I thought that he was done already.

And when I put his diaper back on, didn't notice that he was still doing it and by the time I took him back in the bathroom he was already finished! LOL! Oh well, it was still pretty good considering that was the 3rd time he did a long one in the toilet. Looking forward for more! LOL!

Back To School Finally!

My son finally went back to school this morning after missing it all week last week! He was very excited this morning and so was I. As we were heading towards the bus stop, he said to me that he's glad to be going to school and that he misses his two best friends!

I told him that I'm sure they misses him too and they'll be glad to see him in school! Poor thing! I just feel awful but at the same time very happy that he's finally better after suffering for a week!

Starting To Potty Train Him

It's about time to try to potty train my 15 month-old son. I actually started introducing him to the toilet over two weeks  ago. Yesterday, he successfully did a long one in the toilet from start to finish, with my assistant of course. I noticed yesterday that he was being so still and was grunting which usually indicates that he is trying to poop in his diaper but I immediately took him to the toilet and sat him down and there it was falling in the toilet. I was really glad that he did it! Perhaps, I won't have hard time potty training him...

Anyhow, the potty trainer seat you see above is what I just bought a few minutes ago for him. I decided to buy a seat that will just go on a toilet rather than the ones that you sit on the floor for we do not have a space for in the kid's bathroom. Hopefully, my little one will enjoy sitting on his new throne! LOL!

Out Of School All Week

This is the fourth day that my son missed school. I cannot say that he is getting better, I mean one minute he's better then the next minute he'll be feeling so bad. I feel really sorry for him. I really hate when something like this happens! This is the worst I've seen him sick.

When I took him to his doctor the other day, they took a swab of his saliva and some mucus in his nose and it came out normal. His doctor said that he is just sick, so she wrote him a note so that he can stay home all week.

I am not a bit worried about him getting behind in school. He is a very smart kid, I am pretty sure he won't have hard time to catch up. I just want him to get better so he can go back to school and see his friends. He already said that he wants to go back to school, but he just can't send him if he's not better. :(

Poked With Six Needles

My over a year old son had an appointment this morning for his annual check-up. Since my oldest son is sick, we called the doctor's clinic yesterday and asked if we can squeezed him in so he can be checked and find out what's wrong with him. He has been sick since Saturday and had to missed school yesterday. Good thing, there was no school today due to the weather. But it seems like he is not getting any better.

Anyway, back to my youngest son. The nurse mentioned that he'll be getting his vaccines, she didn't specify how much. She asked me if I want him to get his flue shot, so I went ahead and told her yes for I was scared he might get the flue and get really sick. We waited in the room, several minutes later, two nurses came in with big pile of syringes. I was shocked to see 6 injections that they were gonna give to my one year old son. They gave it to him in both of his thighs and did it at the same time 3 times. I almost cried when I saw my son started crying and his whole face turned red like a tomato. It just broke my heart big time. I know that was very painful!

I don't even like getting one shot and I'm an adult. I can't imagine how painful it must have been for my son to get 6 needles poked in his little thighs. Oh gosh how I hated that moment! My oldest son got so scared that he might get one too, so he personally asked his doctor if he was getting a shot. To his relief, the doctor said no that he already had all of that. If I have known that they were gonna give him that much, I would have just said no to the flue shot and get in the next time!

Happy Valentines Day!

Picture above is of a strawberry that I was preparing for my first grader to take to school for a snack and I noticed that it is shaped like heart. So I took picture of it because I thought it was perfect for Valentines day. The quote "Love Is All Around, If You Can Just See It" came from my husband. And I thought it was perfect to put on the picture...

Anyway, hope everybody is having a wonderful Valentines Day! :)

Binignit

For weeks, I have seen several of my friends on my facebook posting this dish that we call in the Philippines "Binignit". I don't know the English term for it, but it is called "Ginataan" in Tagalog. I've made this before and today was my second time. The first one that I made I didn't really like much. This second one is much better compared to the first one.

It is really hard to make
it exactly like in the Philippines since I can't find all the ingredients here. And the coconut milk that I used was from a can. In the Philippines, we use a freshly squeezed coconut, so right there will already make the difference from the taste that I am accustomed in the Philippines.

Anyway, this time my ingredients were only coconut milk, tapioca pearls, plantain bananas, sweet potato, brown sugar and a drop or two of vanilla extract. I have been craving this and today I ate all day just to satisfy my craving! I think I have enough of it. It will be a while before my taste buds will be looking for this!

"Through A Rapist Eye"

(PLS TAKE TIME TO READ THIS. it may save a life.)
Through a rapist’s eyes. A group of rapists and date rapists in prison were interviewed on what they look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:

1] The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun! , braid, or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed. They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.

2] The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women who’s clothing is easy to remove quickly. Many of them carry scissors around to cut clothing.

3] They also look for women using their cell phone, searching through their purse or doing other activities while walking because they are off guard and can be easily overpowered.

4] The number one place women are abducted from / attacked at is grocery store parking lots.

5] Number two is office parking lots/garages.

6] Number three is public restrooms.

7] The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to a second location where they don’t have to worry about getting caught.

8] If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged because it only takes a minute or two for them to realize that going after you isn’t worth it because it will be time-consuming.

9] These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas,or other similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands.

10] Keys are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guys you’re not worth it.

POINTS THAT WE SHOULD REMEMBER:

1] If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like what time is it, or make general small talk: can’t believe it is so cold out here, we’re in for a bad winter. Now that you’ve seen their faces and could identify them in a line- up, you lose appeal as a target.

2] If someone is coming toward you, hold out your hands in front of you and yell Stop or Stay back! Most of the rapists this man talked to said they’d leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not be afraid to fight back. Again, they are looking for an EASY target.

3] If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes,) yelling I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY and holding it out will be a deterrent.

4] If someone grabs you, you can’t beat them with strength but you can do it by outsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the arm between the elbow and armpit or in the upper inner thigh – HARD. One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands the guy needed stitches. Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it; it really hurts.

5] After the initial hit, always go for the groin. I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy’s parts it is extremely painful. You might think that you’ll anger the guy and make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause him a lot of trouble. Start causing trouble, and he’s out of there.

6] When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible. The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.

7] Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, don’t dismiss it, go with your instincts. You may feel little silly at the time, but you’d feel much worse if the guy really was trouble.

FINALLY, PLEASE REMEMBER THESE AS WELL ….

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do it.

2. Learned this from a tourist guide to New Orleans : if a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you…. chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car: Kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won’t see you but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON’T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU CLOSE the DOORS , LEAVE.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:

a. Be aware: look around your car as someone may be hiding at the passenger side , peek into your car, inside the passenger side floor, and in the back seat. ( DO THIS TOO BEFORE RIDING A TAXI CAB) .

b. If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

c. Look at the car parked on the driver’s side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked “for help” into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it and it’s better safe than sorry.

Dump Day Again!

Ughhhh! I really hate going to the dump! But I don't have any choice but to go today since it is such a beautiful day and the perfect day to throw our garbage that's been piling up for almost 3 weeks.

Me and my mother-in-law planned that we need to go every week but for some reason, we could never do it. So garbage piles up and between ours and hers, we have to come back twice because all the garbage couldn't fit in the truck since it is a just a small 1980 Chevrolet truck that we are using to haul the garbage.

Anyhow, I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful day. That will be a different story for me since we will be heading to the dump in a few minutes. So ciao for now!

"Hubby's World Famous Veggie Sandwich"...

...is what my husband told me to name this veggie sandwich he made a while back. Oh gosh, this was really a very scrumptious veggie sandwich, probably the best one I have ever tasted in my 26 years of existence! Just looking at the picture makes me drool and wants to have one right now. Ahhh, I need to tell my husband to make this sandwich again. It is really yummy and at the same very healthy.

It is made with avocado, tomato, onion, spinach and a special sauce that he won't tell me. He said it is a secret that he do not want to share with anybody even me! That's well and fine with me, it just means that whenever he wants to eat this sandwich that he'll have to make it  his self, means less work for me! LOL! Anyhow, I attach another picture, a closer view of the sandwich below..

So Proud Of Myself

I am just proud of myself for doing the household chores first! The house needed cleaning bad although it wasn't that long ago that I just cleaned it! If you have two kids running around, it doesn't matter if you clean everyday it would still be cluttered. I just don't have the time to clean everyday, I mean really, who cleans their house everyday?

Anyhow, I always try my best to clean every week like major cleaning, vacuuming the bedrooms dusting, mopping, clean the two bathrooms, etc. But I must admit that there are weeks that I just don't feel like doing it that it would take 2 or more weeks before I can get to it. I know it sounds bad but I am sure I am not alone on that.

Anyway, since I am done doing the chores. The rest of the day is for my relaxation. And that usually means just sitting around on the couch in front of my laptop or tapping on my IPod which by the way what I am doing right now as I'm typing this post trying to finish my online task! Feels really nice not having to worry about the house looking like s**t! LOL!

Now Back To Reality

I had a long break from getting up so early in the mornings to get my first-grader for school due to the snow that we had since Thursday. Yup! That's how long my break was and tomorrow is back to reality. I am looking forward though. It kinda worry me that the school was closed for 3 days. They might get behind the school curriculum or something. But my husband assured me that it's not gonna happen. If they do, they can always make up for it. So I guess that's out of the question now..

Anyhow, another person that is looking forward to going back to school is my school boy! He loves going to school for sure. He was so disappointed when the school called to say that school is closed. I am glad that he loves school so much. Hopefully, that won't change until he graduate! LOL!
